Editorial policy

How we makewhat we publish

Handwritten letters and a pen

A health article can change a decision.

These are the rules we follow so that you can trust what you read, and check it.

01

Who writes and reviews

Every article is signed and reviewed by a doctor: Dr Juan Fabiani de la Iglesia, a specialist in Family and Community Medicine. We show his registration number, his training and his interests.

02

How we use artificial intelligence

We use artificial intelligence tools to help us search the literature, organise information and draft text. No figure is published without checking it against its original source, and responsibility for what is published lies with the doctor who signs it.

03

How we choose sources

  • Primary sources firstClinical trials, meta-analyses and clinical practice guidelines, checked in PubMed.
  • Official agenciesThe European Medicines Agency and the Spanish Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices, and the product information.
  • Reference guidelinesAmong them, the Spanish GIRO guideline from the Spanish Society for the Study of Obesity.
  • Every figure, with its sourceAt the end of each article are the references, with their links.
04

How we report evidence

  • We distinguish between a trial and an observational study, and say when a figure only shows an association.
  • We flag limitations: small or short studies, or those funded by the manufacturer.
  • If something isn't known, we say so.

What we don't publish

  • Trade names of prescription medicines.
  • Prices in articles.
  • Patient testimonials, or before-and-after photos.
  • Promises of results.
  • Sponsored content. No manufacturer pays for or reviews our articles. [CONFIRMAR]

Our interest

LVNG is a private medical clinic, and the Journal helps people get to know us. We say so that you can bear it in mind. That is also why we talk about the options we don't offer, such as surgery, and about what doesn't work.

How we update

Every article shows its date. We review those on medicines every month, because that is what changes most: approvals, public funding and new trials.

If you find an error

Write to us at [EMAIL DE CONTACTO]. We'll review it and, where appropriate, correct it and say so in the article.

This doesn't replace a consultation

What we publish is general information and doesn't replace an assessment by a doctor. No treatment is prescribed without a prior medical assessment and indication. In an emergency, call 112.
